The only way you’ve missed seeing this show is if you’ve been living under a rock. It’s, in my opinion, the best new show on television. It has mystery, drama, scandal and sex – all of which make a very interesting and exciting viewing experience.
The show is set around Emily Thorne, a wealthy 20-something who has found a way back into her old Hampton lifestyle after witnessing her father get arrested and convicted of crimes he did not commit. But, things have changed since that fateful night – the last time she saw her father before he died in jail after getting a unanimous guilty verdict. You see, she’s no longer that little girl – she changed her name from Amanda Clark, took the identity of Emily Thorne and cashed in, at least, $500 million dollars of stock options her dad had invested shortly before his incarceration.
She’s back with an agenda – to bring down those responsible for the set-up of her father, David Clark. From getting a psychiatrist disgraced to exposing Conrad Gracin’s extra-martial affair to dating the precious son of her sworn enemy, Victoria Gracin. She has the money, the willpower and the brains to get the job done… but, with every great plan, there are some hiccups along the way and each week the show throws in some doozies of a twist. And in the end, you don’t know which man to root for who has Emily’s heart – the son of her enemies or the boy she left behind.
Is it what I would do in the situation? No. While I don’t believe in karma, I do believe the best revenge is living a happy and fulfilling life – your enemies will hate it.
What? I don’t believe in karma? That’s insanity!
Take the show for instance. If Emily wouldn’t have intervened in every aspect of the Gracins’ life, they would still be living in deluded happiness. Instead, its Emily’s actions that is taking the family who set up her father down one by one until there is nothing left.
In real life, if karma DID exist, a lot of people wouldn’t do the things they do for fear of retaliation. Bad people sometimes get away with bad things. Bitches are still bitches, haters are still haters, unhappy people will spread unhappiness, bitter people will live with a bitter heart, jealous people will do anything to tear you down – but that’s life. It isn’t fair. You can’t do anything but concentrate on who you are, what you say, your actions and thoughts and above all, love the people who need it the most.
Thankfully, entertainment television almost never leaves us unsatisfied and I’m sure the ending will be just as exciting as the first episode, but I wonder where it will go next year – after Emily exacts her final revenge. Will the find out she’s really Amanda Clark? Does she finally choose Jack?
With all these questions one things for sure, it’s a show that isn’t to be missed, I can promise you that. You can watch full episodes here to catch up on what you’ve missed.
I love it so much, I watch it live. Rob’s at curling and I curl up with a good bottle of white wine and I sit anxiously through the commercials. All by myself. Its wonderful.
